THE CRIES OF UEW STUDENTS; WE REFUSE TO SETTLE FOR LESS.

I am from a humble background and owing to this I did not have a privileged upbringing. By dint of hard work coupled with the grace of God, I’ve been able to climb up the rungs of the academic ladder up to the tertiary, UEW to be precise. It has not been easy though I must admit. Money is hard to come by especially whenever I have to pay my school fees and S.R.C dues. That is why my heart bleeds whenever moneys that I paid through the nose are not being put into good use by our student leaders.
A muted response to the happenings at the student front on campus will have been the ideal thing to do but then again I was reminded of Mahatma Ghandi’s maxim that says “ Even if you are a minority of one, the truth is the truth”. And considering how low things have sunk on campus I cannot in good conscience keep mute.
The Jarvis-led administration rode on the wave of restoring public confidence in the S.R.C on campus and they came up with some juicy promises too and for these they were given the nod. But couple of months down the line I am under the impression that this administration is jinxed.
UEW Front View
The current administration is yet to have one single achievement under their belt.I laughed and pity UEW when one of his own said Javis did well and as such the school has not recorded any suicide issue under his administration. Is this an achievement? How on earth will Ganyo Godsway say this? I sincerely think Jarvis should not have vied for the position knowing fully well that he was not cut out for it.

The entire student body has been given faulty pen drives. We definitely did not get our money’s worth. And how much went into the procurement of the pen drives? Was it sole-sourced? These are burning questions that should be answered. We refuse to settle for less.
And as if the pen drive debacle was not enough, Jarvis decided to serve us a dessert of his failures by organizing an abortive artiste night show. This is a leadership in paralysis. I just don’t get it. Every single step of theirs is fraught with missteps and failures. In fact, failure has become synonymous with the current administration. The arc of history bends slowly but it bends towards justice.
I stumbled on a piece written by one of his appendages(Ganyo Godsway) in which he made a clarion call to a particular ethnic grouping on campus to rally behind Jarvis by voting for *Patrick Agyei as the next S.R.C president. This really sparked the ire of some of us. Are the votes of that particular ethnic group on auto-pilot? I don’t think so. They are discerning enough I think. Honestly, I think that the line between politics and ethnicity on campus should be blurred. And their support for a particular candidate has only re-enforced my perception that the system has been skewed to favour Patrick Agyei. And what are they scared of?
After all their candidate had 92% so they should be in safe hands. I want to humbly use this piece to appeal to all students to vote their conscience come the election day.
